This case study's main objective is to allow students to learn more about operating systems and their most common issues. Select their preferred area in the field of operating systems and compare it with current state of the art approaches and finally propose their own new ideas.
2. Introduction
Today, computers play an essential role in our lives thanks to the graphical operating systems that run on computers. Although the operating systems facilitate our interaction with computers, some issues and challenges need to be solved. In this case study, you will write a research paper to discuss at least two of operating systems' problems.
Some topics relevant to Operating system
Topics can be selected from the below major topics [mentioned below] or subtopics [For example CPU Scheduling algorithms, Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Linux, Android, Apple's iOS etc.]
- Computer and operating system structures
- Process and thread management
- Process synchronization and communication
- Or the topics related to Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Linux, Android, and Apple's iOS etc.
3. Presentation of the context
You should write a research paper on at least two of the issues that arise on one of the operating systems' subjects. The paper should include three main sections, introduction, body, and conclusion.
As an example, First Come First Serve is a well know CPU scheduling algorithm. However, it has many drawbacks. The algorithm should be explained well first. Then, the issues are discussed.
Research paper Guidelines:
- The paper should have at least 3 pages
- The paper should discuss at least 2 different issues.
- The paper should include 3 main sections, introduction, body, and conclusion.
- Use the following fonts.
- Times New Roman font with font size of 12 for paragraphs
- Times New Roman font with font size of 14 bold for headings
- Paper should not have more than 15% plagiarism.
- Avoid grammatical mistakes.
- Each group will select a group Leader who will submit the paper via Blackboard.
- Group Size = Min 2 Students and Max 3 Students
