Customized Content
I mostly see customized content in ad spaces advertising things I've recently viewed on Amazon. Amazon itself likes to suggest things I may want to consider purchasing. No, I still don't have $1500 for those Godzilla figurines; please stop tempting me. YouTube, too, likes to take me down rabbit-holes that still curiously fall within my interests.
I've made it a point to inspect and critique viewpoints differing from my own to curb my ignorance about issues. For example, I often read long philosphical works that I disagree with. I think 80% of what I read consists of material I end up detesting. I don't believe failing to consider viewpoints is a large issue for me, though I will always be suceptible to bias because I'm fallible like any other person. I can certainly remember situations in which I didn't obtain all the facts and acted erroneously, or where I believed hearsay that I later discovered was inaccurate.
Whether this content is good or bad depends on the person we're talking about--what they've fed this algorithm. Maybe a shopping addict doesn't need to see more Air Jordan variants, but perhaps stimilating one's curiosity about their interests isn't too bad either.
