Based on this prompt, Al Jennings is still liable to Elk Meadows Apartments for those three months of rent when he was out to Billings, Montana for the summer. Although Al Jennings had left his apartment under Corey Hammonds care while he was gone, Al Jennings is still the main resident occupying the apartments therefore he will be held for the missing payments. Corey is just a friend who needed a place to stay and is not obligated to pay for Al Jennings rent especially since he ended up not occupying the apartments. However, Corey Hammonds is definitely in the wrong for making an agreement with Al Jennings that in the three months he was gone he would pay the $575 monthly rent because he would be occupying his apartment since he needed a place to stay. It was inappropriate and selfish that Corey Hammonds did not notify or at all inform his friend Al Jennings that he would no longer be staying at his apartments and instead decided to hitchhike around the West. Corey Hammonds failed to realize that Al Jennings did not need to offer him his place to stay; he chose to do it out of the kindness of his heart. The bare minimum Corey Hammonds could have done was communicate with Al Jennings that he would no longer be occupying his place for the three months but instead led him to believe he would be paying the rent.
