Canada on Monday expelled a Chinese diplomat who was allegedly involved in a plot to intimidate an opposition lawmaker and his relatives in Hong Kong. Two days later, China said it was expelling a Canadian diplomat in a retaliatory move (and further actions involving trade and security).
