is performed in two steps, first step is fast with formation of mono octyl

terephthalate $($MOTP$).$ The second step is slow in which $2-$ethyl hexanol

$(EH)$ reacts with monooctyl terephthalate to give dioctylterephthalate. It is

decided to set up a plant to manufacture $5$ million Ib per annum of DOTP.
