Search job boards, trade sites and other places for statistics and real-time data about where you can get jobs in this area, how much people are earning with this job, and what industries people with this job are working in. Step 3: Gather as much information about the job as you can. Start to compile the following information about the career that you chose. Description of the jobwhat exactly do they do? Educational requirementswhat kind of schooling do they need? Pros and Conswhat are the good and bad things about this job? (i.e. do they work crazy hours? Do they get to work in cool enviroments or have additional perks?) What kinds of places would they work in the world? What experience or certifications are necessary to get hired? What interests you about this job? How easy is it to get a job in this area? Is it super competitive? Is there a limited need? Is it looking like a job that will be stable in the near future or have high unemployment? What is the average salary? What kinds of hours do they work? What kinds of benefits do they get? Step 4: Choose how you will present the information that you found. You may pick either of the following options: Word doc or Powerpoint slides. Step 5: Create your project! Regardless of which type of format you are doing (paper or presentation), it must include the following: Title (the career you investigated) Sections to include: o Description: describe this career. What are the responsibilities? What would you be doing on a daily basis? Include THREE main aspects of the job, including working conditions. o Education: What skills and education levels are required? Where can you receive this educationdo you have to go to a special school or take specific classes? Include TWO classes in your current diploma that would help to prepare you for this job. (Not necessarily the cooking labs!) o Pros and Cons: What are two pros and two cons of this job? State your opinion: what do you see as positive and negative about this job? o Job potential: What is the salary range? What kind of opportunities for advancement are available? How competitive/available is this job? Where are people working in this field? Will you be able to stay in Ontario or would you need to move? o Your thoughts: Is this a career you would be interested in pursuing? Why or why not? Include at least THREE reasons. Guidelines 1. Make sure each section in step 5 is covered in your presentation 2. Check for accurate spelling and grammar 3. Provide references 4. Keep information concise and in own words
