Carnitine is a metabolite that is involved in fatty acid b-oxidation (the breakdown of fats), which is a key process in aerobic energy production in human cells. A recent pilot study showed that children with asthma had altered carnitine levels after an exacerbation. To test whether there is a mean difference in carnitine levels in adult asthma, a research group recruited 60 participants: 20 healthy individuals without asthma, 20 mild asthmatics, and 20 severe asthmatics. Their urinary carnitine concentrations (mol/mmol creatinine) were measured; the data is attached. Perform the statistical analyses for this research question using alpha = 0.05.
