Carol Kaye asked her cousin Chris Stort to work with her at her business, Beautiful Collections, in Louisiana. At the time Stort was involved in every aspect of the business - bookkeeping, marketing, and design; however, he was not paid a salary but was reimbursed on his personal credit card which Kaye also used. Stort was committed to taking no profits as he wanted the business to succeed. When the two got into an argument over a customer's request, Kaye fired Stort but Stort insisted that he was now a partner to the company and could not be fired.
Is Stort entitled to profits from Beautiful Collections?
What other rights would he be entitled to?
