Carpets, fireworks, jewelry, and metal-goods as well as grains, sugar, and other foods harvested by workers, are imported directly to North America and Europe. In addition, large international corporations, acting through subsidiaries in the developing world, take advantage of cheap labor to improve their bottom line and increase the dividends to their shareholders.
