"I'm searching for guidance on how to deal with a mom who is always talking about her personal life and her other kid. She sobs and spends 90% of my ABA time discussing topics other than my real client. None of my passive or subtle (or not so subtle) hints were effective. She is a professional in a relevant sector, and I get the impression that she regards me as a sounding board/friend/coparent rather than as a BCBA working with her kid. I do not connect with anybody and do not reply to unsuitable issues. I am uneasy and think that this customer is not making good use of my time. I'd appreciate any ideas on how to make her more professional and suitable in order to prevent her attempting to build a parallel relationship."
