Question:
A 29-year female patient was drunk on a Sunday night and accidentally collided with a 3-ton truck at high velocity. She was wearing her seatbelt but unfortunately, due to the great force of the collision, she suffered a Chance fracture on her thoracolumbar section. After the surgery, upon assessment and CT scan findings, there are no neurologic deficits and brain injury. Associated injuries were several glass wounds on UE and LE limbs and facial bruising. Motor functions especially on LE are impaired, difficulty coughing/sneezing, and poor trunk/hip mobility.
1. As a Physical Therapist, what clinical decisions and actions could you take to properly assess the case? (Explain)
2. Determine what type of prognosis and what are the possibilities for the patient after rehabilitation?
