He's a little resourceful: he has just taken up the position of production manager at Beta, a window manufacturer in Windsor. During the weekly management meeting, Simon Lavente, Sales Manager, reports that Alpha Company, their main competitor in Windsor window manufacturing, is offering 15% lower prices. Alexandre does not understand at all how the competitor manages to produce a new range of windows at such a selling price. \"Yet the facts are there! replies Simon Lavente. If Beta does not reduce its prices very quickly, Alpha will dominate the market. The accountant, Germaine Lconome, asserts that a price drop without a drop in manufacturing costs would render Beta unlaudable. However, there is no question of reducing wages, since the company has just renewed the collective agreement (contract) for production workers and wages are frozen for the next 30 months. Alexandre is stressed, it's up to him to quickly nd a solution.
