Case Description:

Chan went to Keaton's department store seeking a refund. An argument started with customer service. Francis (from security) told Chan that he would have to leave; Francis took Chan's elbow and started to escort him out of the store. Near the doors, Chan pushed Francis away, presumably wishing to go through the doors unassisted. Francis reacted quickly and violently, putting Chan into a headlock. Chan's glasses were knocked off and his lip was cut; he was handcuffed, detained in the security office, and subjected to racial slurs. Chan asked to leave, asked to call his wife, and asked Francis to call the police; all of these requests were refused.
