Case Facts: Part 1-Fred is a drug-addicted 15-year old who lives with his 78-year old platonic friend Jane-Both live in a recreational vehicle (RV) that is owned by Jane and is parked in a lot in Lake Tahoe, California. The RV is parked right on the border, such that its four wheels are in California, but you can only enter or exit it from Nevada.-One day Jane comes home early from Bingo, places her cane by the front door stairs of the RV and reaches for the door. As she does so, Fred flings the door open and walks to the bottom of the RV's steps carrying its $1,000 car stereo under his arm.-As soon as Fred steps on the ground at the bottom of the RV's stairs, he is standing in the State of Nevada-After reaching the bottom of the stairs, Fred tells Jane not to call the police or "she will be sorry." To further emphasize this point, Fred taps Jane on the forehead one time for each of his quoted words. -After he finishes speaking, Fred snatches a baseball cap off Jane's head, places it on his own head, smirks at her, and walks away into Nevada.-Jane calls the police.
