CASE OF STALIK STERLING

Presenting Problem

Stalik Sterling is a 28 year old Jamaican male who reports to be having problems coping regarding the demands of his new Job as an Assistant Manager and pursuing his Masters Degree in Human Resources. Stalik complains of having preoccupying thoughts regarding tasks he is yet to accomplish, obsessing about his diminishing relationship with his girlfriend (whom he describes as a 'fickle, arrogant and pseudo-controlling') as well as problems relating to his colleagues at work and school. He also states in recent times that his worrying thoughts have been so bad, that he "tries to have everything in place, just in case something goes wrong". He states that he checks and rechecks that all major appliances are plugged out - just in case of a power surge and also that the stove and water heater are turned off and all doors are closed. Stalik also says that being organized and constantly planning has always been a part of him as far back as childhood, he says "in this life, that's the only way to be. . . . . .but it seems like all my plans and worrying are coming to naught. ...I am seemingly behind on tasks, not in control and I find myself snapping at almost everyone... .it's so unlike me.. .and then on top all, I think I am depressed".
