Case Paper (15%) -16 February - individual Planning for Tourism Destinations Post-Pandemic The major disruptions that happened within the last five years until today continue to become crucial learning points for many tourism destinations. This assignment requires you to investigate a particular local or international tourist destination and how they were able to cope with crises such as the pandemic, inflation, overtourism, social upheavals, climate change, and others. To start, briefly describe the complexities of how the development of the destination was impacted by disruptions within the last five years. Afterwards and in greater detail, respond to the following questions: How was the tourism destination able to cope/address its problems? How did proper tourism planning play a role in the destination's revitalization and for future resilience? What can you critique regarding what the destination should have done in order to rejuvenate? Please be careful and not focus too much on just having more tourists return. Remember that having more tourists is not the point - in fact, this can even be more detrimental and may exacerbate damage to the destination. Please focus on how the destination used proper strategy and planning for its comeback. The Case Paper should demonstrate well-articulated critique, deep analysis, outside-of-the-box thinking, and incorporations of concepts and learnings from class.
