Case Scenario:

A ten-year-old boy told his teacher that his mother had been locking him in his room when he got home from school and only allowing him out when it was time to go to school. The teacher made the report. The investigator spoke to the child who told the investigator the same thing he told the teacher. The child was removed and placed with his aunt. The child's sister who also lived with their mother and brother, told the investigator that her brother was always in his room and only saw him out of the room when it was time to go to school. After the boy was removed from his home and talked to the investigator, the child's mother called the boy and told him that it was a shame that his sister had to stay in her room all the time since he wasn't home anymore. The boy's aunt lived in the same school district, so the boy did not have to switch schools. A few days after the child was placed with his aunt, the child told his teacher that he made up the allegations.

Answer the following questions based on the case scenario above:

1- Did the boy recant the allegations? Please explain your answer.

2- If the boy did recant the allegations, what might have been the reason(s) for recantation?
