Case Study 5B - Business ethics and their application
After the situation with Lucy and the missing money from the centre, it has been established that although Bounce Fitness has a 'code of conduct' which sets out guidelines for each and every centre, it does not fully cover 'code of ethics' which goes into more detail about addressing ethical issues.
The best way to start translating values into action is by producing a code of business ethics, often known as business principles or 'the way we work'. A code of ethics explains the organisation's approach to ethical issues, sets out its ethical commitments and standards, and provides guidance to staff on how to react to ethical dilemmas.
You are required to evaluate a code of ethics issue of your choice and submit a report on that issue and an attachment to be included into the 'code of ethics' policy and procedure manual being developed. The ethical issue which you choose should be in line with organisational culture of Bounce Fitness and legislative requirements.
Remember to be mindful of relevant legislation and the organisational culture.
