Assignment Instructions

1. Review what is a case study in this week's module
2. Read one of the following case studies:
   • Keeping to the Straight and Narrow: Health in a Halfway House
   • The Deforestation of the Amazon: Understanding Ecosystems and Their Value
   • East Meets West: An Infectious Disease Case
   • Nuclear Meltdown in Fukushima: Human Accident or Natural Disaster?
3. All of these cases include discussion questions as you read. Jot down sketch answers to these questions, but do not attempt to answer them all in your response. They are to guide your understanding only.
4. You write recommendation that:
   • States the case's central problem
   • Identifies the key stakeholders
   • Fully justifies one or two recommendations - describe its impact on the stakeholders and how it solves the problem as identified in the case
5. The report should be formatted using paragraph structure and complete sentences
6. The report needs to have the following components and must use the following sub-headings:
   • An Introduction to your report that (roughly 250words):
     • Clearly summarizes the problem
     • Identifies the key stakeholders involved in the problem
     • Briefly states what your recommendation is
   • A Recommendation(s) and Discussion section that (600 to750 words):
     • Carefully explain why you made the recommendation that you did.
     • The Discussion section should be the longest portion of your report, and should be completed in paragraph form with full sentences.
   • A Conclusion that briefly summarizes your recommendations and rationale (roughly 100 to 150words).
7. If you use any quotations from the article, make sure you enclose them in quotation marks. You do not need to use APA or MLAformat for this assignment.
8. You do not need to do any additional research for this assignment.

Tips

• You will receive poor marks if your report is not analytical enough. I am not interested in a long summary of the casesummarize only as much detail as you need in order to justify your recommendations. Assume that I am familiar with the case study.
• Be clear about who your stakeholder is and what their goal is. Not every case study will identify the same stakeholder.
• Write clearly and precisely (KISS). The better you are able to summarize your ideas, the more room you can allocate to analysis. More analysis = better report = better grade.
• Demonstrate that you can think critically by coming up with an innovative solution. Obvious answers do not demonstrate flexible thinking or creativitythese are essential skills in life.
