Peter is the manager of the Greenways waste management company. Together with his team he provide a range of business and residential waste management services including collection, recycling, and skip hire. Peter recently held a meeting with stakeholders of the Greenways company and the decision was made to develop and implement a new sustainability policy. The aims of this policy include highlighting the commitment to the environment and promoting a general sustainability agenda.

Principles outlined in the Greenways sustainability policy include:

• Ensuring compliance and exceeding all relevant legislation where practicable
• Account for sustainability considerations with regards to business decisions
• Ensuring staff awareness and commitment to implementation of the policy
• Minimising the environmental impact of waste management activities.

Sustainability practices outlined within the policy include:

• Making use of eco-friendly transport methods
• Using an emissions recording scheme to measure the impact of business travel
• Recycling business materials where practicable
• Engaging in voluntary work and making contributions to the community.
