Case study (questions 22 - 25)

Assume that you are working in a role with managerial responsibility for legal and ethical compliance in a small sized community service organisation providing home care packages, day centre visits, respite care, palliative care, and dementia specific care. Your organisation has a Director (person in control of a business or undertaking (PCBU), Facility Manager (you), three (3) community care workers, three (3) case managers, two (2) youth workers and a bus driver.

The Director observed that there were an increasing number of complaints about the staff relating to privacy and confidentiality issues. In addition, the workers are not knowledgeable enough about

the risk management strategies relevant to a community service setting.

You are asked to research information about compliance and ethical practice responsibilities, and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities for your organisation.

Develop policies and procedures for your workplace to support legal and ethical practice relating to:

  1. Privacy and confidentiality
  2. Risk management strategies, i.e. hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk
  3. minimization procedure

Clearly articulate and document policies and procedures under various relevant headings to support legal and ethical practice in your workplace in the space provided below.
