Using the simulated workplace and the scenario in the appendix, provide solutions to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation. You must use the simulated workplace policies and procedures to undertake the following task.
Your role
You undertake the role of Sam, the manager of the simulated workplace to lead and build a positive culture within their work teams carrying out work using complex and diverse methods and procedures requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement. It will also involve using a range of problem solving and decision-making strategies.
Your Task
Complete the following workplace activities demonstrating skills and knowledge to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation:
Questions
Activity 1
Access Australian Constructions (Simulated workplace) documents including policies and procedures provided to you on college learning and management system (LMS) and use the relevant policies and procedures to undertake this task. Read the case study in appendix and analyse its information to identify your role and responsibilities.
Activity 2
Role-play activity.Refer to next page. Note:for this activity details. Meet with the CEO (your assessor) in a role-play to discuss organisational requirements including goals, plans and objectives. Fill out the meeting minutes provided in the appendix 2 outlining the goal, required plans and objectives.
Activity 3
Identify the followingaccording to organisational and task objectives:
- Purpose of the project.
- At least five roles for each team member and three roles of the team.
- Two responsibilities of each team member and three responsibilities of the team.
Activity 4
Identify the areas of work for each team member and develop a performance plan withkey performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve goals (team performance plan template is available in Appendix 2).
Activity 5
Conduct skills gap analysis for each team member considering the skills required for performing their respective tasks in the projectusing the template provided in appendix 2. Determine and list how tosupport team to meet expected performance outcomes including providing formal and informal learning opportunities as needed.
Activity 6
Develop strategies to gain team members input into planning, decision making and operational aspects.
Activity 7
Develop workplace policies and procedures for team to work cohesively and taking responsibility for own work and assisting others. Provide minimum 5 policy guidelines and their procedures to apply during the project. Develop an action plan for the project using the template in appendix 2.
Activity 8
Determine and write down a feedback process to use for team members to encourage, value and reward individual and team efforts and contributions.
Activity 9
Identify the possible issues, concerns, and problems that you may anticipate during work tasks in team and develop a process to address them.

Instructions
This part is a role-play where you must organise role-play settings as agreed and facilitated by your assessor for a consultation meeting including training room place, tables, chairs, a computer with Internet, papers, pens, and any other resources as required.

Assessment Task 3-Role-play
Facilitate teamwork and liaise with stakeholders.
Role-play (Skills and Knowledge Application)
This task is a continuation from assessment task 2 to participate in the role-play and provide solutions and demonstrate to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation. The policies and procedure manual of simulated workplace must be used as the policies and procedures of the workplace to undertake the following task.
Situation
The team project is underway, and you experienced some issues and concerns. The CEO was away interstate for a week and project approval got delayed by one week. Team member Dave had some clashes with Tanya over some ambiguity of roles and responsibilities and some work got held up such as interview arrangements including pro forma interview questions and selection of interviewers. Approval has been taken that matter is resolved. But the issues with Dave and Tanya are not resolved yet.
Your Task - Team meeting

Preparation activity

- Use the activities prepared in your assessment task 2 for this task as the base documents.
- Organise the team (fellow trainees as Dave and Tanya) and CEO (assessor) for the role-play and proper seating and settings to play the role as the manager.
- Ensure you model desired behaviour and practices during the role-play. And promote work team collaboration through individual behaviour. (Direct observation by your assessor).

- Discuss the issues, concerns and problems which are not resolved yet that raised by your CEO. Explain to your CEO and the team members your solutions to unresolved issues, concerns, and problems.
- Conclude the role-play meeting by explaining as to how you follow-up unresolved issues, concerns and problems with line management raised by team members.
