Chani writes a book in 1965 that describes how the body of a worm, which produces Melange but only in very small amounts, is spliced using biochemical techniques onto the body of a human being. It is very successful and Duncan produces and directs the film of the book in 1984, four years after Chani dies. In 2020 Eric reads the book and watches the film. He writes a film script that is a parody of the book and film. Fremen films Eric's script but modifies it to make it more like the original, although he stresses that it remains a parody.

Gurney is an obsessive fan of Chani's original book and creates a website dedicated to it. On the website he allows fans to read short sections of Chani's books and then add their own storylines in order to encourage new interpretations of the work. He also uploads Duncan's film and allows fans to download it. Finally he produces a link to Fremen's film that allows people to stream and watch, but they are unable to download it to watch later. He charges an annual fee of 10 for full access to his website and all its facilities.

Halleck wrote, performed and produced the original musical soundtrack for Duncan's film. Idaho samples a five second section of this musical soundtrack and produces a song involving a continuous and repetitive looping of this section. His girlfriend, Jessica, plays it in her Ibiza mega-club in the summer of 2021 and it becomes a huge international success, particularly in the UK.
