Chapter 1 Analysis

Watch a movie or tv show that involves an organization of some type. For example, Avengers, Harry Potter, Office Space, and The Social Network would all be good movie choices for this assignment. The Office, NCIS, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Ted Lasso would all be good show choices. There are numerous other movies and shows that would be excellent for this assignment as well.

If you would like to choose a different movie or show but aren't sure if it would be a good fit for this assignment, send me an email and I'll help you decide.

As you watch, identify at least five management activities and/or skills that you see in the movie/show. Provide a brief analysis of the scenario as well.

For example, you may choose to watch an episode of The Office. You could analyze how Michael Scott communicated with the other employees at Dunder-Mifflin in a particular scene. Does he communicate well? If so, what did he do well? If not, what did he do poorly?

You will primarily be using pages 4-8 in our textbook that discuss kinds of managers, basic management functions, and management skills.

If choosing a show, include the name of the episode as well.
