Chapter 10 Discussion

Sam wants to sell his vintage Corvette, so he parks it in his front yard with a "for sale" sign in the window. That same evening, a young neighbor, Bradley, offers to buy the car. Having had this course, Sam knows better than to enter into a contract with a minor, so he asks Bradley for ID. Bradley produces a driver's license that indicates he is eighteen. Sam accepts Bradley's offer, and Bradley pays Sam with a check. That night, Bradley totals the vehicle, but manages to walk away unharmed. The next morning, Bradley stops payment on the check, and informs Sam that he is invoking his right to void the contract because he is a minor and only sixteen. Sam points out that Bradley provided proof that Bradley was in fact eighteen. Bradley laughs and tells Sam that anyone willing to pay the price can get a fake ID.

Does Sam have any legal recourse? Can Bradley void this contract?
