Chapter 8 Corporate Governance and Whistleblower protection 1. Encik Omar was appointed as the Assistant to the chief audit manager, Encik Rahman of IBB Sdn. Bhd. on September 1, 2014 for a term of five (5) years. After three (3) years working in the company, he found out that the company had deliberately encouraged the internal audit department to deviate from the standard accounting practices. He decided to disclose it to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and lodged a police report on the alleged improper conduct of Encik Rahman. On August 1, 2017, he received a letter from the company notifying him of his suspension for a period of two (2) weeks. He is now afraid that the company may initiate other disciplinary proceedings against him. (a) Advise Encik Omar whether he is eligible to seek protection under the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010. (b) If so, what are the statutory protections available to him?
