CHAPTER CASE STUDY 1 Playing Favourites Suzana is a professional accountant who was hired by RCO Bhd as the payroll manager. She works closely with Fendy, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RCO Bhd. Before Suzana started her job at RCO Bhd, Fendy emphasized to her on the need to maintain strict confidentiality regarding employees' salaries and pay scales. On Suzana's first day in RCO Bhd, she was introduced to Tipah, the founder of RCO Bhd, who told Suzana to see her if she has any problems at work. In their conversation, Tipah told Suzana that Fendy is a good and highly motivated staff. After four months of employment, Suzana notices that Zendy, a technician, who is also the CEO's brother, makes so much commission compared to the other technicians. She assumes that Zendy must be highly qualified and must be working hard. Every Monday, Suzana would prepare the job sheet for all RCO Bhd's technicians. The technicians are instructed to take whatever job given and are not allowed to choose their job tasks. They cannot choose the work that they prefer or work that gives higher commissions. One day, however, Suzana receives a memorandum from the CEO, asking her to give the easier and 'high commission work' to his brother, Zendy. The company's policy prohibits favouritism; Suzana is uncertain what she should do. Questions: 1 Discuss Suzana's dilemma in the above case.one!
