Charles wished to sell his e-scooter for $1,000. He placed an advertisement in the newspapers. His niece, Ashley, saw the advertisement and immediately rang Charles to say that she would like to see the e-scooter before deciding on whether or not to purchase it. Charles told her to come to his house that evening. After viewing the e-scooter, Ashley asked Charles if he would consider selling her the e-scooter for $600. Charles said that he would not sell the e-scooter for anything less than $1,000. Ashley said she needed a day to consider Charles' price. Charles told her that if she agreed to buy the scooter, she should send him a WhatsApp message on his cell phone within the next two days. The next day, Ashley sent him an email saying that she will purchase the escooter from Charles for $1,000. However, Charles seldom checks his email or even uses his laptop, and thus never sees Ashley's email. After the second day, when Charles received no WhatsApp message from Ashley, Charles sold the e-scooter to his neighbor for $1,000. When Ashley came by to Charles' house to collect and pay for the e-scooter, she was surprised to hear that Charles had sold it off.
