Charlotte just graduated from high school and wants to enroll in her first semester of college at the local PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE OF DANCE, pursuing a degree in tap dancing. Charlotte is 18 years old and living in an apartment on her own, paying rent each month. Charlotte works full time at the local restaurant as a waitress. Charlotte cannot afford tuition at the local college to pursue a degree in tap dance. On December 15, 2020, Charlotte's "Uncle Richard" calls Charlotte and promises to pay Charlotte's tuition for her first semester at the PROFESSIONAL COLLEGE OF DANCE. Uncle Richard promises over the phone and in an email to mail Charlotte a check for $3800.00 in the next week, so Charlotte can sign up for the Spring Semester at the local college of dance, beginning on January 10, 2021. While Charlotte is waiting for "Uncle Richard's" check to arrive in the mail, Charlotte pays her first semester of tuition of $3800.00 on her credit card to Professional College of Dance on December 18, 2020. After about a week, Charlotte does not receive a check from "Uncle Richard." Charlotte then calls "Uncle Richard" concerned that the check never arrived. "Uncle Richard" explains to Charlotte over the phone that he thought he could pay the tuition, but he realized that he has too many bills and apologizes to Charlotte that he cannot pay Charlotte's tuition. QUESTION: Does Charlotte have a contract with "Uncle Richard" for the $3800.00 that "Uncle Richard" promised to pay Charlotte?
