An effective workplace success action plan should follow the 70-20-10 rule where: 10% comes from formal learning opportunities; 20% comes from peer learning, coaching, and mentoring, and 70% of your learning comes from challenging on-the-job assignments, academic and/or life experiences.

Development Activity Options
The following are ways in which you can supplement your development activities to help move you closer to meeting your goals and realizing your personal vision statement.
Learn new information. What new trend is emerging in your industry or profession of interest? How is technology influencing how you will work? How can you sharpen or upgrade your knowledge?
Build new relationships. Consider those direct or indirect relationships within your cohort of classmates, or if you are employed, your workmates. Or, those outside of your classes or place of employment. What opportunities exist for you to explore and leverage synergies with those who share similar interests? Or those who might be where you want to be?
Optimize opportunities for collaboration with diverse points of view. Consider untapped or unlikely people or groups for opportunities to join forces and bring diversity of thinking and approach to expand your network and your reach into new and different territory.
Take stock. Great leaders start the day with a plan and end the day with a check in on the day's plan. Consider what went well? What could have been better?
Create new feedback mechanisms for yourself. Be courageous and ask for feedback - in the moment - from those you regularly interact with and from those you don't typically get feedback from. These varied perspectives will help to keep you in tune with how you're progressing both in your personal and professional life!
