Question 4
Item 4 of 4
Case Study 4d - Supporting communication between stakeholders As a leader of a team, you will need to liaise with your line manager, i.e., Carol and with other stakeholders, such as other room Lead Educators, committee members, etc. You'll be the spokesperson for the team to the rest of the service community. This can be daunting at first, but with a strong understanding of processes that makes this clear and objective, it gets easier. Ideas that your team present may not always reach consensus with other stakeholders, or concerns may be raised about a proposal. You will need to be able to communicate these to and from the team and key stakeholders in a way that is respectful to all parties, to preserve not only the collaborative culture in the team but also in the wider service community. Carol wants to ensure that you feel confident to lead your team for this mini-project but also to know that you have the knowledge and resources you need to apply these processes time and time again as you grow and develop in your leadership role. To work through these skills, Carol has posed a hypothetical situation for you to discuss at your next mentoring meeting. [Members of your team are concerned about being able to meet the expectations of their day-to-day roles as well as meeting the expectations of their actions in the project for the next four weeks. They have requested that you negotiate changes in service procedures for the duration of the project, to enable them to have time allocated to meet project commitments. Meanwhile, at the last service community committee meeting, some parents and staff members (who are not directly impacted by changes in the pre-school room) feel that making changes now and disrupting 'business as usual' is a waste of time and resources. Your team are excited about this project proceeding.] Prepare how you would respond to this issue as project team leader, ready for your chat with Carol. |
Benchmark Criteria Demonstrated knowledge of issue resolution strategies, which can be used to communicate and follow-up on unresolved issues, concerns or problems raised by team members with line management or by stakeholders. |
