• CHCECE025 Embed sustainable practices in service operations

1.Analyse your workplace or placement organisation's existing environmental sustainability policies and procedures by answering the following questions:

• a)Our philosophy: What is the services policy for sustainability? Do the policies and procedures reflect the service's philosophy for sustainability?
• b)Inconsistencies: What practices are being implemented across the service that are and are not consistent with the service's policy for sustainability?
• c)Waste, nature and toxins: What practices does the service currently implement concerning waste, nature, energy and toxins?
• d)Involving children: How are children involved in implementing sustainable practices within the service?
• e)Ethical issues: Are there any ethical issues around sustainability that the service is addressing such as supporting local farmers, looking for alternatives to printing out photos, etc.?
• f)Managing change: How does the service gain feedback and ideas for improvement and change from its stakeholders?

2.Identify a list of at leasttwo (2)potential areas where the service can improve or adapt their current practices to enhance sustainability.

3.Develop a plan to enhance sustainability in the service based on the findings from your analysis and identification of potential areas for improvement. You will need to detail the following in your plan:

• a)Goal: A sustainability goal based on findings from your analysis, including your key recommendations for change.
• b)Rationale: A rationale for the changes you are recommending.
• c)Materials and resources: Any resources required to implement your plan.
• d)Strategies to engage stakeholders: The strategies you will use to involve and engage stakeholders (i.e. children, colleagues, families and the broader community) to participate in and evaluate your program/plan. You must also describe your reasoning behind your chosen strategies for involving and engaging these stakeholders in your program plan.
• e)Links to the EYLF: How your plan links to the EYLF.
• f)Action plan: Lists each task that is required in order to achieve your end goal to enhance sustainability within the service. You must also list an expected timeframe for each task to be completed and who will be involved in each stage of the plan.

7.Monitor and review the implementation of the plan through reflective practice.
