Research an appropriate ice breaker for a new group. Activity 2 and 3 - activities designed to empower the group to acquire a new skill (e.g. how to behave assertively rather than aggressively, how to remain calm when driving and avoiding road rage, how to improve confidence when attending job interviews, effective communication skills etc.). write up the plans for each group activity using the Group activity planning template provided in this document.

Part 2: Facilitate the group activities

facilitate the 3 group activities developed in Part 1 to demonstrate your ability to complete skills-based tasks to industry standards.

1. Provide the assessor with all completed documentation from Part 1 - including the instructions on how to complete the activity.

2. Organise at least 5 participants for each activity and ensure that all participants are notified of the date, time and location of the session, and the roles they are expected to play as clients.

3. Ensure all required resources are available prior to conducting each activity and that the room is set up appropriately.

4. Facilitate each group activity, including:

explaining and negotiating the purpose of each activity

using appropriate communication and interpersonal skills

encouraging and modelling sensitivity to diverse participants

implementing strategies that promote effective group participation

actively engaging in conflict resolution practices that maintain group cohesion.

5. At the conclusion of each group activity, seek feedback from participants and offer the opportunity for debriefing, mediation and/or support.

Part 3: Evaluate group activities

Review the feedback you received from participants for each group activity and reflect on your performance in facilitating each session. Answer the questions in the spaces provided. Once completed you must submit this to your assessor.
