• As migrant workers shift throughout Europe (via Syria, Africa, Ukraine) or the United States (via South/Central America), the international worker is not an expat but a SiM (self-initiated migrant). How does a company leader cope with integrating foreign workers into a domestic firm?
• Research a country that may be facing an influx of workers, as described in Chapter 7 of the textbook. Briefly explain the obstacles facing the country. Where are people migrating from? What kind of problems may local company leadership encounter with those people groups that you have found?
• Does a host firm need to adjust their leadership style to the SiM culture, or should SiMs have to adjust their cultural norms to the host country? Explain your answer.
• What are some strategies that you, as a leader, would use to maximize the use of a new workforce?
