Cherry picking is an interesting topic but it's one that is hard to answer one which side it leans towards. In the video above, the doctor states that the facilities and specialists are the cherries being picked from the patients. The patients are deciding which physicians to see and if they don't like them the move on to another doctor. I can see that frequently happens because many people go to the physicians, whether it be a primary care or specialist, and chose the doctor out of what they can afford or what their insurance covers. On the other hand, the physicians are also "cherry picking" the patients due to which doctors take the insurances and what they would rather take care of for the patients. I believe that physicians pick their patients based on money and conditions that the patient might have. For certain surgeries and care, doctors may prefer to care only for chronic conditions or self pay patients. Other doctors may only provide their services to patients with certain health care coverage or no coverage. From personal experience, when I was having medical issues a couple years ago, finding a specialist doctor willing to take my insurance and my medical issues that were not diagnosed yet was a hard process. I experienced the "cherry picking" of the physicians on which facilities wouldn't take a certain economic class that was able to afford the care. Each way you look at it I think that "cherry picking" occurs frequently between both the patients and the physicians. I believe it depends on the physicians and the facilities on whether the "cherry picking" will continue.
