Cheryl Mabry Appointed as Director of State, Local, and Tribal Programs

WASHINGTON Cheryl Mabry has been appointed Director of State, Local, and Tribal Programs for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the federal agency announced today. Mabry will lead the coordination of efforts between EEOC and more than 90 Fair Employment Practices Agencies (FEPAs). FEPAs receive and investigate discrimination claims that are dual-filed under state and local laws prohibiting employment discrimination, as well as federal laws enforced by EEOC. In addition, she will direct the work with over 60 Tribal Employment Rights Offices (TEROs) to enhance the employment opportunities of Native Americans. Mabry has served in several leadership roles at the EEOC for 20 years. She was an Enforcement Supervisor in the Chicago District Office, Deputy Director in the Washington Field Office, Director of the Cleveland Field Office, as well as, National Outreach and Training Coordinator. Her most recent work as the Chief National Enforcement Modernization Project Director included partnering with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to lead the agency in creating a modern case management system that will offer greater efficiency and functionality for the EEOC. Mabry, a Chicago native, has extensive experience in negotiation, conflict resolution, class and systemic investigations, and training development. Proudly, she has served for several years as a mentor to professionals and advisor in organizations focused on serving youth. I am delighted to welcome Cheryl as the Director of State, Local and Tribal Programs, said EEOC Chair Janet Dhillon. Her qualifications, and experience are exceptional. Cheryl is already highly respected and will be a valuable member of the EEOCs senior leadership team. I am honored and excited to lead in this new role. I look forward to working with internal and external partners to continue our effort to cast a wide net and effectively address unlawful employment discrimination in this country, said Mabry.
