Chi Quare tests

A substance abuse counselor is interested in the effects of dental prescriptions of opioids to teenagers. He particularly wants to look at whether there is a difference in opioid dependence based on whether or not young adults had opioids prescribed after a wisdom teeth extraction during their teenage years. He gathers data from local treatment centers, focusing on young adults (age 18-25) with diagnosed opioid dependency. He creates the table below based on the frequency of opioid-dependent young adults who answered that they either: received (and took) an opioid prescription from a dentist for wisdom teeth removal; did not receive an opioid prescription from a dentist for wisdom teeth removal; or did not have wisdom teeth removed at any time.

Using this table, enter the data into a new SPSS data file and run a Chi Square Test of Goodness of Fit to test whether the proportions of opioid dependency are equal across categories. Remember to weight cases as shown in the presentation. simple bar chart to show the relationship between the variables.
