Childbirth is a happy time but often brings transitions with it that affect the baby and the parents. One of the transitions that happen with a new baby is parents must adjust to having a little one in the house if there were no children before. Often with this transition parents are irritable, tired, and stressed (Martorell,2020) having to adapt to the changes of having a newborn around. Siblings also have an adjustment to make when a newborn comes to the home. These adjustments may consist of things such as mom and dad having to divide their time up between siblings and the newborn. Another transition is having siblings having bonding time with baby. This often can be a happy moment, but parents too have the stress of dealing with siblings who are not ok with having a newborn in the home. Bonding with the newborn baby is another important factor when bringing a newborn baby home. Two of the biggest ways that are stated in our text that mother's bond with their babies is by close bodily comforting and feeding. Although feeding is not the most important factor to bonding it is still an essential portion of the mother and baby bond. Father's bonding with their babies is crucial as well in the parenting aspect. Father's bond with their babies through caregiving and play (Martorell,2020). This bonding helps not only the baby by the parents also. Parental bonding is a mechanism that ensures parents invest the tremendous energy and resources needed to enable a helpless infant to survive and reproduce (Martorell,2020). The scriptures teach us that "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him." "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these (Psalm 127:3, ESV)
