Offer a discussion about which of the above statistical techniques, you think applies to the scenario.
Scenario: A sleep researcher conducts an experiment to determine whether sleep loss affects the ability to detect changes in the environment. 90 individuals are randomly assigned into one of the following three groups of 30 subjects: group 1 gets the normal amount of sleep (7-8 hours); group 2, is sleep deprived for 24 hours; and group 3, is sleep-deprived for 48 hours. In a change blindness task, on each of 40 trials, subjects are presented with two pictures, alike in every way, except 1. They are asked to, as quickly as possible, detect when they noticed that a change occurred. As a dependent measure, the experimenter is gauging the subjects' reaction time across trials.
Some things to consider...
* The scale of measurement of the dependent variable,
* Is this a parametric or non-parametric test
* How many variables? How many levels to the independent variable? Presented between or within subjects?
