Choose ONE of the two following tasks to complete:

Find a recipe for a dish popular in another culture, which you will prepare for your family or friends. Videotape yourself preparing the dish (or document it through photographs). Explain what you know about the culture of the country the dish is from, and why the dish is culturally relevant. Refer back to the Cultural Determinants table for ideas. Record your family/friends' reactions as well.

Find a type of snack popular in a foreign culture. Look in a specialty grocery store or the specialty aisle of your local grocery store. Videotape yourself taste-testing the snack and examining the label and advertising found on the packaging (or document it through photographs). Explain what you know about the culture of the country the snack is from, and why the snack is culturally relevant. How could this product be adapted to better suit the Canadian market?
