Chyra grew up in foster care, and now, as a social worker for a foster care agency, she is determined to change state policies in ways that will better the lives and opportunities of those who are aging out of foster care. In particular, she wants to see an expansion of services that will help those who are aging out get job training or higher education, get housing and help with other basics, and even find mentors who will help them transition to independent adulthood.
