Civil Case: Plaintiff hires a man to install a new door at his business. He gives a contractor $1500.00 as a deposit and the remaining $1300.00 the day the contractor was scheduled to install the door for a total of $2800. The appointment time passed and the contractor never showed. The plaintiff contacted the contractor and was told that the door was being held at a storage unit and that installation would be delayed. The next installation date came around and the plaintiff contacted the contractor again and was told the door had been stolen out of the storage unit. Now the contractor is avoiding any and all forms of communication with the plaintiff.
