Classroom performance analysis I have included data on grades in one of my classes. I have student by student information for six semesters. After the first three semesters, I changed my grading approach by adding optional pre- quizzes. Optional pre-quizzes are graded on a softer scale, with 80% earning a 4.0 on that pre-quiz. 70% is a 3.0. 60% is a 2.0. Below a 60% is a zero. There is one pre-quiz per chapter that we cover in class. There are mandatory one-page papers due weekly. While there are 14 weeks in a semester, I only count the top 10 papers in the final class grade, however students are encouraged to do all of them so that they have throw-aways. As I prepare for next academic year, I'm curious about a number of things. You get to look into these for me. 1) Do grades statistically differ from semester to semester? 2) Do grades in semesters with pre-quizzes differ from grades in those semesters without pre- quizzes? 3) Does the percent of passing grades from semester to semester differ?
