Clearly it is impractical, and for many of us, undesirable, to believe there should be laws to dictate what is and is not appropriate behavior in terms of every business activity. Imagine the number of regulations that would have to be 'on the books' and imagine being a business trying to navigate through those rules. In fact, it is not uncommon to hear business owners and business professionals express displeasure about the number of regulations that exist already. Having said that, our society has also come to the understanding that some regulation is necessary to ensure businesses operate within some reasonable ethical parameters. So, my question to you is- in your opinion, what are the tipping points, or the lines, or the triggers, when you believe it is essential that government steps in and creates regulations that address business conduct? (I am not speaking about enforcing existing rules. I am speaking about creating new regulations that all applicable businesses would need to abide by.)
