Clubbing Cathy goes out for a fun night with "Partying" Patty and "Boozing" Betty. Betty drives. Once at Danny's Dive Bar, Betty decides she has to get her drinking done with early, so she downs 10 drinks in one hour figuring that by the time of "last call," in 6 hours, she should be good to drive. After the 10th drink, she cuts herself off.

Cathy and Patty decide to party a bit harder than Betty. Cathy buys some marijuana from "Manny," who has a medical marijuana license, allowing him to use it, in a state where it is otherwise illegal. Patty, on the other hand decides to finally "shoot" Heroin, which Cathy purchased from "Manny" also, on behalf of Patty.

After a drug fueled night at Danny's, Betty and Cathy help Patty to the car, as she can barely walk. On the drive home, Cathy continues to smoke some marijuana, using rolling papers Cathy keeps in her glove compartment.

Cathy checks on Patty and finds she's not breathing. Betty hits the "gas" to go to the ER. However, Betty swerves to miss a deer in the road and hits a tree. The police arrive and find Patty dead, Betty badly hurt and Cathy crying. At the hospital Betty's blood is drawn, by warrant, and it is found that she had a .15 blood alcohol level.

Define the following modern drug crimes: Possession of Drugs, Sale of Drugs, DUI, and Criminal liability for drug-induced deaths. Discuss Betty's, Cathy's, and Manny's possible criminal liability or not, in light of modern drug laws in most states.
