Attachment is formed through the bond between infants and their caregivers. It is developed through consistent and responsive care, where caregivers meet the needs of the baby. There are different types of attachment: Secure, Avoidant, Resistant, and Disorganized(disoriented). Secure attachment is when the baby feels safe and secure with their caregiver, and they trust that their needs will be met. Avoidant attachment is when the baby does not seek comfort from the caregiver. Resistant attachment is when the baby is clingy and anxious, seeking comfort but not easily soothes. Disorganized (disoriented) attachment is a mix of different behaviors, often seen in situations of trauma or inconsistent caregiving.

Infants and children develop attachment to different caretakers and significant people in their lives through repeated interactions and experiences. They form a bond with those who provide them with love, care, and support. This attachment helps shape their emotional development, as it influences how they perceive and respond to relationships throughout their lives. Attachment plays a crucial role in emotional development. Securely attached infants and children tend to have a solid foundation of trust, which allows them to explore the world with confidence. They develop a positive sense of self and have healthier relationships with others as they grow. On the other hand, insecurely attached individuals may struggle with trust, have difficulty forming close relationships, and may experience emotional and behavioral challenges.

As for me, growing up in a single parent household, my experience with attachment was slightly different. It is possible that not having a close bond with the other parent culd have affected my emotional development. It might have caused some negative consequences like trust issues or difficulties forming close relationships. However, the strong attachment I formed with my single parent played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
