Colour or text? In an experiment, 32 volunteer subjects are briefly shown seven cards, each displaying the name of a colour printed in a different colour (example: "red" written in blue, "blue" written in red, and so on). The sub- ject is asked to perform one of two tasks: memorize the order of the words or memorize the order of the colours. Researchers record the number of cards remembered cor- rectly. Then, the cards are shuffled and the subject is asked to perform the other task. The tables display the results for each subject.
