Come up with a unique and little known product that you can
develop a marketing plan for. You have to come up with a
product or service that would appeal to your peers. For
ideas, research products featured on Dragon's Den/Shark
Tank or just Google "crazy product ideas". Keep your
product simple. Remember your product idea must be
appropriate and teacher approved. No repeats! First come, first serve basis!
Once you have a product you will create a marketing plan using Google Slides or Google Docs
that includes the following:
1. Title Page - with your name, teacher's name, course code, and submission date. Be
sure to include your company and product name and a picture of your product (if you
don't have a picture, you can draw one). Be creative with the title page.
2. A branding solution that will include a brief description of the product (2- 3 sentences), a
company and product name, logo and slogan, all of which should clearly support what
your company is about. Be creative! Do not use the information provided on the web
site. You are not required to explain the five (5) principles of effective logo design, but
your logo should clearly reflect the five (5) principles of effective logo design as
discussed in class. The following sites can be used to help you create a logo.
https://logomakr.com/ and https://www.graphicsprings.com/logo-maker
3. An analysis of the Marketing Mix 4 P's (product, price (include pricing strategy), place
and promotion) as it relates to your product. Refer to your notes for detailed
explanations. Remember that you are creating a marketing mix. Do not use any
information from the internet. The only thing that you should be accessing from a
company's website is the product image.
4. 2C's - Consumer: Clearly define your target market, which includes an analysis of the
four categories - demographic (age, education, income level, etc.), geographic
(where does your consumer live? City (urban) or Country (rural), lifestyle and family
life cycle.
Competition: Include an analysis of your competition, both direct and indirect, including
the actual company names.
5. A print ad that is appropriate for placement in a magazine, newspaper, or social media
site. Your ad must inform/persuade target market to purchase your product/service.
Include a detailed AIDA analysis. Within "Promotion", identify where place to reach your
target audience.
6. Some market research - Prepare a survey - minimum of five (5) close-ended questions
(maximum 10 questions), and survey a minimum of 10 people. Your survey should
focus on at least four of the five categories listed below:
a. Product perceptions (what do people think about the product)
b. Branding (to assist you in developing an effective branding strategy)
c. Advertising (to assist you in creating an effective ad campaign)
d. Target market (to determine consumer market)
e. Pricing strategy (to assist you in determining how to price the product)
Clearly state the purpose of your research, and the number of people surveyed
before you present your survey results. Note you should survey people that you
believe are your target market.
7. Display your market research results in a graph/chart and provide a brief analysis of
your findings - in other words tell me what you learned from your market research from
each questions. Provide a conclusion on how the research you conducted helped in
developing your marketing plan. Use Google Forms to gather your results. You may
post your survey to the classroom stream for students to access. Use a variety of
graphing tools, such as pie charts, bar charts, etc., when displaying your survey results.
