Gambling is when an individual plays a game of chance to receive something of value when there is a specific outcome. Gambling restrictions exist to prevent individuals from becoming overly addicted, or become of a victim, of gambling where they may lose many of their valuables. An example of this is Florida State Statute 849.0935. This statute lists criteria a charitable or nonprofit organization must meet in order to conduct a "drawing by chance," along with prohibited acts and practices. (FS 849.0935).

Waste management refers to the handling, transportation, and disposal of human waste. The purpose behind waste management is to limit, or eliminate, the impact human waste has on the environment. Waste management is very broad, and is governed by many federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Many definitions and regulations regarding waste management can be found in 40 C.F.R. 260.10.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is a governmental agency which investigates security brokers to prevent unfair market dealing and fraud. One method used by the SEC to uncover violators is the use of whistleblowers. Whistleblowers, who provide the SEC with information or documentation of violations, can receive protection and rewards if they meet certain criteria (15 U.S.C.A. 78u-6).
