There are many things that they could have done to help mitigate the significant issues that arose during the cut over. During the planning stage, a SWOT analysis could have been done that would have determined having one warehouse as a threat. In my line of work, when we determine a threat, we make sure to have a well thought out contingency plan in place to make sure we can still meet customer needs. A contingency plan could have helped mitigate a lot of the issues that were seen in the supply chain and could have made this whole situation avoidable. A better project management process could have help the project team determine all of the things that could go wrong before they do. When you cut over from 6 warehouses to 1, that is a huge change to the system and needs to be treated as such. One strategy that is often used is to allow the new supplier to start delivering within the system
